Top Diversity Leaders in Healthcare - 2022

Since taking on the leadership role at Access Health CT in 2018, Michel has increased efforts to reduce disparities among the state’s residents. After an Access Health CT-commissioned study revealed significant differences in outcomes in underserved communities, Michel and his team in 2021 created a Health Equity and Outreach Department and hired a director of health equity and outreach. They also launched Broker Academy, which recruits participants from historically underinsured cities to connect the healthcare industry with the broader population. Since September 2021, Access Health CT has secured more than $1.2 million in grants to support operational and program initiatives.
