Pegus, who joined Walmart in 2020, is responsible for shepherding the retail giant’s healthcare endeavors. Under Pegus’ leadership, Walmart collaborated with UnitedHealth Group to connect customers with preventive care and virtual services, a partnership the companies say will eventually reach hundreds of thousands of customers. Walmart Health has also opened clinics providing dental, vision and hearing services, along with disease management, urgent care and mental health counseling options. Pegus was the first female board chair for the Association of Black Cardiologists, which aims to prevent and treat heart diseases.
