Hingtgen leads one of the country’s largest for-profit health systems, with 81 hospitals in 16 states. CHS also owns more than 1,000 outpatient facilities, which generate about half the company’s revenue.  Since taking the helm in 2021, Hingtgen has focused on controlling costs, especially for contract labor, and making progress toward driving stronger surgical volumes. Looking forward, Hingtgen expects to pursue growth opportunities in primary care, urgent care, free-standing emergency departments and surgery centers. The health system may also pursue joint ventures and other partnerships. Hingtgen was previously the health system’s president and chief operating officer, with a track record of developing regional networks.
