Mahoney is a 26-year veteran of Penn Medicine who rose through the ranks to lead the six-hospital system in 2019. Since taking the helm, Mahoney has overseen the opening of a $1.6 billion 17-story expansion of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, which added 1.5 million square feet to the sprawling West Philadelphia campus—the organization’s largest capital project to date. He also led the implementation of a unified electronic health record platform across several facilities.
