Walsh has run the BMC teaching hospital system for 12 years with an eye to meeting the needs of an underserved population. BMC, affiliated with Boston University School of Medicine, also includes a Medicaid managed care organization with more than 400,000 members in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and a network affiliation of 14 community health centers throughout Boston. Walsh has been a vocal proponent for advancing health equity and promotes a culture that is agile in responding to organizational change.
