Dr. Susan Turney
CEO, Marshfield Clinic Health System
Since becoming CEO in 2014, one of Turney’s top priorities has been expanding access to care in rural communities. She led expansion of the organization from one hospital to 11, grew revenue by about $1 billion and doubled its workforce to more than 12,000. Marshfield operates 65 clinics in Wisconsin and in February expanded into Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with the acquisition of Dickinson County Health System. Turney has pushed to renovate and modernize the flagship Marshfield campus and is making investments in information technology systemwide. Community outreach has grown, too, with efforts to expand virtual care services. Through the technology, the Marshfield is able to offer more hospital-level care at home, which reduces costs and is popular with patients.
