Dr. Scott Rissmiller
Enterprise executive vice president and chief physician executive, Atrium Health
As executive vice president since 2021, Rissmiller oversees management of the clinical enterprise, comprising more than 6,000 physicians across the organization’s 40 hospitals and 1,500 care locations, with more than 15 million patient interactions each year. Under his stewardship, the system has received recognition for its efforts to reduce racial and ethnic care disparities, as well as for its work to improve physician satisfaction and reduce caregiver burnout. He was an early and vocal supporter of expanding access through virtual care, particularly for behavioral health services, which proved invaluable for those patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is a hospitalist with more than 20 years of experience and has been chief physician executive since 2019. In May, Atrium announced plans to merge with Advocate Aurora Health to form a $27 billion health system spanning six states with 67 hospitals.
