Sutaria took over the top job at the health system in 2021, becoming responsible for its three lines of business comprising 60 hospitals, about 550 outpatient centers and revenue-cycle services. Before that, he was Tenet’s president and chief operating officer, overseeing hospital operations and outpatient facilities along with its surgery center and revenue-cycle subsidiaries. In 2020 and 2021, the system closed two acquisitions worth about $2.3 billion with SurgCenter Development that grew the company’s United Surgical Partners International division to 438 outpatient centers. Tenet operates the largest ambulatory surgery platform in the country, according to the company. Before joining Tenet, Sutaria worked for 18 years at McKinsey & Co. as a leader in the healthcare and private equity practices, advising clients on strategic, operational and financial issues.
