Hochman applies a community-focused, collaborative approach to his management of Providence’s 52-hospital system, which also includes more than 1,000 clinics across seven states. With an aim toward addressing clinician burnout and issues of health equity, Hochman has committed to investing $220 million over several months to retain and recruit top talent, as well as $50 million over five years to reduce health disparities among the organization’s diverse communities. Hochman, who has served as CEO since 2012 and chaired the American Hospital Association from 2020 to 2021, has pushed to build effective partnerships during his tenure. These include Providence’s work with Anthem Blue Cross and technology vendor Vim to share data across diverse systems.
