Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom
Senior vice president of community health and equity, and chief wellness and diversity officer, Henry Ford Health
Wisdom is a leader in the field of population health. Under her guidance, Henry Ford Health helped launch and expand the Women-Inspired Neighborhood Network, which works to reduce infant mortality rates in Detroit’s Black communities. Wisdom says that spending more than a decade addressing community health issues has allowed her organization to more quickly respond to issues related to social determinants of health, such as food and housing insecurity, by accelerating programs already in place. She led a pilot program around recuperative housing that discharged patients from hospitals quickly and into stable housing if they were unable to return to their own homes in a safe manner. She has been in her current role for 15 years. In 2003, she was appointed Michigan’s first surgeon general, a position she held for nearly eight years.
