Dr. Jaewon Ryu
President and CEO, Geisinger Health
Since Ryu became CEO in 2018, one of his priorities has been bringing care closer to the home. The goal is to boost access and quality while driving down costs. In the past year, he steered investment of more than $240 million into that effort, including adding three concierge senior clinics, another hospital campus, two senior daycare centers and three multispecialty medical office buildings. The system also plans to build a center for regional orthopedic care and a second major cancer center. Ryu also has worked to solve healthcare challenges through community partnerships and social outreach, as well as through innovation, such as a predictive artificial intelligence tool to detect colorectal cancer. The integrated health system includes 10 hospitals, a 550,000-member health plan, about 130 clinics and the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.
