Tomlinson oversees the company’s more than 500 practice locations, which have grown 35% since he took the top job in 2017. Under his leadership, the physician-led and -owned partnership is testing solutions to address staffing shortages and improve operating performance in emergency departments. Tomlinson is also leading efforts to focus on caregiver resilience and wellness. In 2020, he formed Vituity Cares, a charitable foundation aiming to advance health equity in underserved communities. He was previously chief of staff for the Adventist Health Central Valley Network, where he continues to practice as an emergency physician. In his spare time, Tomlinson, known as Coach Mu, works through the 24/7 Foundation, which he founded, to teach kids lessons about leadership, discipline and commitment using the game of basketball.
