The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology took an enhanced advocacy approach in Arkansas during the 2021 legislative session in support of House Bill 1198, “An Act to Amend the Definition Of ‘Practice of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesia’ By Removing Supervision Requirements; And for Other Purposes,” as well as launching targeted public relations and digital campaigns to increase legislator awareness and support of CRNA issues. Following AANA's and Arkansas Association of Nurse Anesthetists' efforts, on March 24, 2021, Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) signed HB 1198 into law.
