Under Bolano’s leadership, the Boise, Idaho-based system has sustained positive operating margins the past three fiscal years—4.3% in 2018, 5.6% in 2019 and 3.5% 2020. Significantly, the 2020 margin was achieved without CARES Act funding. Bolano is leading an effort at St. Alphonsus, and within parent organization Trinity Health, to eliminate structural racism. On gender diversity, women make up 53% of St. Alphonsus’ senior leadership team. She is a founding member of the Carol Emmott Foundation’s Fellowship Board, which strives to mentor women leaders across the industry.
