Safety & quality
Karina Davidson
Director of the Institute of Health System Science, The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research at Northwell Health
Davidson is one of the nation’s leading figures on improving quality and safety. Under her leadership, the institute has produced more than 250 peer-reviewed published medical studies and in 2020 won a $1.7 million National Institute on Aging grant to study how behavior change interventions can impact physical activity in older adults. In April 2021, she was named chair of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. During the pandemic, her team embarked on studies that were instrumental in identifying comorbidities that impacted the severity of COVID-19 infections. She also played a key role in Northwell’s “Keeping Our Team Members Safe” program, which was spotlighted in a New England Journal of Medicine article on how to protect the workforce during the pandemic.
