Dr. Yavar Moghimi
Chief psychiatric medical officer, Amerihealth Caritas District of Columbia
Moghimi has been in his role at the Medicaid managed-care organization since 2015. He is responsible for improving behavioral health quality measures and outcomes for members. He has paid particular attention to addressing social determinants of health and creating more alignment between behavioral health and primary care. He created a personalized support program for patients with substance use disorders and helped develop a peer specialist support program that embedded cultural competency as a key priority. Moghimi is also focused on recruiting and helping the organization build a diverse workforce. Currently, more than 57% of AmeriHealth Caritas’ total workforce—and 39% of management—reflects racial, ethnic and cultural minorities.
