Copeland is a key leader in advancing Kaiser’s agenda to address DEI. Part of his role is ensuring that those initiatives are embedded across the system’s network and promoting best practices. His leadership has resulted in breaking down silos between units and better incorporating the patient voice in the care delivery process. The health system also reduced racial and ethnic disparities in the control of blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose among African-American Medicare members He’s also worked to build partnerships in the community. In 2020, Kaiser committed $60 million in joint investments and $40 million in grants to address emotional trauma and support equitable economic opportunity.
