Ryu took the helm at the integrated delivery system in June 2019. He has championed a number of innovative clinical and care delivery efforts. During the pandemic, for instance, Geisinger was one of the first U.S. health systems to perform in-house testing for patients and employees, leading to people getting more timely results. The health system also pioneered novel contact tracing programs. The system’s 65 Forward program, which aims to improve primary care and integrated services for Medicare Advantage members, has also grown and achieved a 98% patient satisfaction rating. Ryu is an ardent supporter of Geisinger’s hospital-at-home program, which has resulted in significant reductions in hospital admissions and emergency department visits.
