Top Diversity Leaders in Healthcare - 2021

Maybank joined the AMA in April 2019 to become its first chief health equity officer. Before joining the association, she was a deputy commissioner in New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and helped launch an equity of care center there as well. During her short time at the AMA, she developed and launched its first equity strategy, including a multiyear road map for addressing racial justice. She also ensured that the association reached out to and listened to external stakeholders. Maybank also helped forge a health advocacy fellowship in cooperation with the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at the Morehouse School of Medicine.
