Brenda Battle
Senior vice president, community health transformation, and chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer, UChicago Medicine
Battle joined the Chicago-based health system in 2012 and has been at the forefront of many of its efforts to address diversity, equity and inclusion. She’s been the point person on developing collaborations with community organizations, as well as state and local leaders. Battle launched a system-wide equity initiative that is linked to the organization’s 2025 strategic plan. She also helped establish a coalition of 13 hospitals, systems and federally qualified health centers to increase access to care and address social determinants of health. The coalition recently received more than $25 million in state funding to develop a healthy community model of care on Chicago’s South Side.
