Xavier Becerra
Secretary, Health and Human Services
Becerra is the first Latino to lead HHS. He served 12 terms in Congress as a member of the House of Representatives, including membership on the Committee on Ways and Means. As California attorney general, Becerra focused on pharmaceutical companies, protected health information, Medicare and Medicaid fraud, antitrust, and healthcare worker safety. He received his law degree from Stanford Law School.
Becerra speaks: “To be clear: government has no database tracking who is vaccinated. We’re encouraging people to step up to protect themselves, others by getting vaccinated. It’s the best way to save lives and end this pandemic. So it is absolutely the government’s business. It is taxpayers’ business, if we have to continue to spend money to try to keep people from contracting COVID and helping reopen the economy.”
