Dean was president and CEO of Dignity Health before facilitating a merger with Catholic Health Initiatives to form CommonSpirit Health. Dean is a champion of access to care and health equity, having partnered with the Obama administration to promote passage of the Affordable Care Act. He forged a partnership with Morehouse School for Medicine to increase the number of Black physicians and worked with Morehouse, Baylor College of Medicine, and Creighton University to deliver more culturally sensitive care.
