Dr. Oliver Kharraz
Founder and CEO, Zocdoc
Despite facing a data breach earlier this year, Zocdoc announced record year-over-year growth in mental health services and continued to expand its reach. Kharraz is CEO and founder of the online service that allows people to book in-person or virtual appointments for medical or dental care. He previously spent seven years as an associate principal at McKinsey & Co. where he implemented patient utilization models for national health services and hospital chains. He was a resident physician at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, where he earned his MD degree and a doctorate in neuroscience.
Kharraz speaks: “It’s tempting to look at this data and conclude that telehealth is the Segway of medicine—a much-hyped innovation that failed to achieve long-term traction. The reality, however, is more nuanced. In-person appointments are surging, but at the same time, there are a number of areas where telehealth has caught on and is likely to stick.”
