Geisinger this year revealed plans to expand its home healthcare services and its facilities, adding a new orthopedics center scheduled to open next year.

Ryu first arrived at Geisinger as an executive vice president and chief medical officer. He spearheaded innovations like Geisinger at Home, Geisinger 65 Forward, and a primary-care redesign. Previously, as president of integrated care delivery at Humana, he took charge of the company’s care delivery assets. He also held positions at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System, Kaiser Permanente, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and McDermott, Will & Emery.

Ryu speaks: “We slowed our providers down so that they had a little more time to spend with patients and had a team supporting them to help offload some of the administrative work. As a result, we saw access numbers improve. We saw patient satisfaction in the primary-care centers improve.”
