Fauci heads the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and serves as chief of the Laboratory of Immunoregulation at NIAID. In 2021, he took center stage as the Biden administration’s top expert on the COVID-19 pandemic. He oversees research on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of new and emerging infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS, Ebola, Zika as well as long-standing diseases like tuberculosis and malaria. Fauci has advised multiple U.S. presidents on domestic and global health crises, including HIV/AIDS and COVID-19.
Fauci speaks: "It’s easy to criticize, but they’re really criticizing science because I represent science. I’m not going to be around here forever, but science is going to be here forever. I’m just going to do my job and I’m going to be saving lives and they’re going to be lying.”
