Thompson heads the health benefits unit of UnitedHealth Group. He was named to the position in April 2021. Thompson served as CEO of UnitedHealthcare government programs, including the Medicare, retirement, community and state businesses serving the needs of seniors and Medicaid beneficiaries. Other leadership positions include chief financial officer and financial controller. Before joining UnitedHealth Group, Thompson was a CPA and manager of transaction advisory services at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
