Under Gapstur’s leadership, WellSpan was one of the first systems its region to launch a chatbot that helped patients assess their risk of getting COVID. WellSpan also built out its behavioral health capabilities with a toll-free hotline and other resources to help community members manage stress, anxiety and other mental health needs. WellSpan continues to launch innovative patient tools as well, such as an online program that lets pregnant women connect with their doctors, reducing the need for four in-person prenatal visits. They system is also piloting a hospital-at-home program and has pursued several alternative payment models with major insurers in its market.
