Dr. Taha Kass-Hout
Director of machine learning and chief medical officer, Amazon Web Services
Kass-Hout is a central figure in AWS’ aggressive push into healthcare. Amazon’s cloud division is increasingly working on a variety of projects, including partnering with more than a dozen major health systems on artificial intelligence projects such as using Alexa for home health services with Intermountain Healthcare as well as ChristianaCare. AWS also partnered with state public health agencies to use cloud platforms for COVID-19 vaccine efforts. Before joining Amazon, Kass-Hout served as the first chief health informatics officer at the Food and Drug Administration, where he led the openFDA initiative that let researchers and the public search and analyze adverse event data.
