Cacchione oversees clinical care at 2,600 sites in 19 states and the District of Columbia and leads a medical group made up of 9,000 providers and 40,000 aligned physicians. He led many aspects of the large national system’s response to COVID-19, including creation of a national command center to coordinate care and creation of a vaccine equity task force. Cacchione has also turned his attention to addressing staff burnout, endorsing creation of the system’s Clinician Engagement and Well-Being Council. The council’s work was honored by the American Medical Association’s Joy in Medicine initiative.
