Dr. Hal Paz
Executive vice president and chancellor for health affairs, Ohio State University and CEO, Wexner Medical Center
The former Aetna executive joined Ohio State University in June 2019 and has kept the institution at the forefront of several pivotal issues. Following George Floyd’s murder, he oversaw the formation of a team that developed an anti-racism action plan for the medical center and health sciences college, which resulted in, among other things, multiple town hall and roundtable discussions where staff could speak in a safe place about racism. The college also developed new policies to combat racism and created training around LGBTQ issues. Despite COVID-19 and financial headwinds, Paz led a $2 billion investment in expansion projects, including new hospital tower and access points in underserved neighborhoods, and oversaw a 10% spike in research funding.
