President and CEO,
Bon Secours Mercy Health
Like health systems across the nation, Bon Secours Mercy Health had to weather a downward push in finances as the COVID-19 pandemic spread. Over the summer, the system furloughed about 5% of its workforce, but as Starcher told Yahoo! Finance News, the system’s foundation help spur a hardship fund that made $60 million available to those staff members. Starcher said that over a two-month period, virtual visits hit nearly 9,000 patients per day, surpassing what was seen in all of 2019. Bon Secours Mercy in October said it was investing in SOC Telemed, the largest national provider of acute care telemedicine.
