Ehrlich has been CEO of the San Francisco-area hospital since 2016. In July, she took over as board chair for America’s Essential Hospitals, where she’s been a vocal advocate for increased funding for safety-net providers, especially as they confront increased financial strain due to the coronavirus pandemic. In August, she joined with more than 20 other female leaders in a Modern Healthcare commentary calling on the Trump administration to back off of threats to cut funding to the U.S. Postal Service. The hospital faced backlash over the summer as COVID cases climbed among staff members. At the time, Ehrlich said they were instituting new safety measures.
