Dr. Patrice Harris
Immediate past president, American Medical Association
Harris, the first African American woman to serve as AMA president, brought a spotlight to such issues as behavioral health and equity of care. She played a pivotal role in the AMA hiring its first chief health equity officer. During the coronavirus pandemic, she’s further highlighted the health inequities that exist in the U.S. The AMA in late April launched a COVID-19 health equity website to share information and best practices.
