Dr. Donald Rucker
National coordinator, Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology
ONC and CMS in early March released their tandem rules on interoperability and data-blocking. In a normal year, publication of final rules to dramatically alter the way health information is shared would dominate the industry for weeks. Then COVID-19 happened. The pandemic hasn’t stopped Rucker from using his position as the government’s top health IT official from promoting the benefits of greater data exchange, which will include putting patients in more direct control of their information.
