Maryland oversees operations for Ascension's expansive care settings, totaling more than 2,600 sites in 21 states. She led the health system in shifting to a population health focus and has been at the forefront of its efforts to focus on social determinants. Maryland has pushed the organization to go further into virtual care. Most recently, she put together a blueprint for a system reorganization that will result in her leaving her post this summer. Maryland created programs within Ascension to advance diversity within the workforce and has helped grow the Ascension Leader Institute's mentoring efforts.
