Spisso took over as president of UCLA Health and CEO of UCLA Hospital System in 2016 and has pushed the organization to redesign care and improve coordination across all disciplines. That includes setting organizational priorities; UCLA Health used to have a decentralized goal-setting process. Leading into 2019, Spisso is putting a focus on innovation with a goal of advancing biomedical science and improving patient well-being. Spisso has advanced female executives, including hiring five new senior leaders and bringing in three new female faculty chairs to UCLA. Two women she mentored were hired to president/CEO positions in 2018.
