Since arriving at Providence St. Joseph Health in 2014, one of Canales' focal points has been improving provider engagement. Her efforts started showing significant results in 2017 when the system saw better engagement scores and lower turnover. Canales began new programs to address work-life balance and led a #NotHere campaign, the system's response to #MeToo. She also opened up about her own experience with domestic abuse.
