When Hundorfean arrived in 2016, the Pennsylvania system was losing $40 million per year. She instituted a turnaround plan and within a year Allegheny was profitable, with three straight positive quarters in 2018. Hundorfean also launched a $1 billion capital expansion campaign. She's increased hiring of female executives and participates in local mentoring programs for women. She's a member of the Women's Health Activist Movement, a Pittsburgh-based advocacy group.
