The current president of the American Medical Association, McAneny has served on the influential physician group's board since 2010. She was chair from 2015 to 2016. In her private practice and as founder and CEO of the New Mexico Cancer Center, McAneny has been at the forefront of implementing alternative payment models for coalition of cancer care providers. She used a Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation grant to develop new care model that is helping practices comply with MACRA. She is a founding member and current board chair of the National Cancer Care Alliance.
