Deslatte was a key player in forging a unique joint venture acquisition with Ardent Health Services to take control of East Texas Medical Center and form a new health system. He also helped increase external funding for UT, including securing $11.4 million in state appropriations. Nearly $6 million of that supports programs for children and adolescents with mental health needs.
