Shafer was named chairman and CEO of Cerner Corp last year. He is focused on expanding Cerner’s business units, consumer brands, relationships and corporate initiatives. Cerner restructured its board of directors this year under hedge fund deal with Starboard Value. In February, Tenet Healthcare Corp. extended its contract with Cerner. In October, Uber announced an app that will allow caregivers to schedule rides for patients into Cerner’s electronic health record system that will go live in March 2020.
