Under Farah’s leadership, Highmark has seen significant results from efforts to improve operations and cut costs. In fact, Highmark saved $26 million in 2018 due some initiatives Farah oversaw. Some of the pilots include a program to ensure patients get evidence-based care at the right care setting, as well as a program to better address care for patients with chronic conditions.  Initiatives under Farah’s watch have also resulted 10% to 20% drops in readmissions and 30% to 40% cuts in admissions and emergency department visits.
