50 Most Influential Clinical Executives - 2019
Rank: 3
Dr. Mark Schuster
Founding dean and CEO, Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine
Although the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine doesn’t open until summer 2020, it’s helping to reshape the debate over medical education. Schuster announced in February that the school would waive tuition for its first five graduating classes. That news came about a year after the NYU School of Medicine said it was going tuition-free. Schuster is also at the forefront of bringing new ideas to medical education, including a focus on social determinants of health and costs along with the clinical concepts.
