Merck wanted to bring the story of the Monroe Clinical Study to life—a trial assessing the efficacy of VAQTA, a hepatitis A vaccine, in an outbreak setting. Instead of repackaging the results, Merck filmed a documentary in Monroe, N.Y., to tell the story of a community in desperate need and ended up making history.
