In 2017, Rothman began his second term as CEO of Baltimore's famed health system and as dean of Johns Hopkins University's School of Medicine. It's a six-year appointment. He oversees six hospitals, hundreds of community physicians and a self-funded health plan. In February, Johns Hopkins joined the United Arab Emirates in announcing a new institute for stroke research. The UAE is funding the Sheikh Khalifa Stroke Institute with a $50 million grant. Rothman was elected last year to American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
