Richardson has put Advocate Trinity Hospital on steady financial footing. Under her leadership, the hospital, situated on the South Side of Chicago, increased orthopedic patient volume 18% by improving referral relationships. Her care redesign also helped reduce by 32% the number of orthopedic surgery patients needing to go to a skilled-nursing facility. She also led a $10 million renovation project that was built around improving nurse workflow. As part of the project, Trinity opened a single floor dedicated to surgical and SICU services, as well as one for cardiovascular patients. For the hospital’s sickest patients, Trinity created a unit with 1-to-1 or 1-to-2 patient-nurse ratio. In recognition of her work, she added South Suburban Hospital to her portfolio in late 2017.
