Malone has made it her mission to ensure that the NLN continues to advance the role and stature of nursing in todays ever-changing healthcare environment, both domestically and abroad. For instance, she has been an unwavering supporter of the International Council of Nurses, which she helped establish in 2007 and that continues to grow its nurse education program. Membership hit 2,366 in 2016, up from just 125 in 2009. Malone also continues to establish new corporate and academic partnerships to build out NLNs Centers for Nursing Education. And, in an effort to further the science of nursing education and improve care for seniors, Malone pursued partnerships with Johnson & Johnson, AARP and others to reinforce the leagues professional development efforts, nursing research grants and public policy initiatives.
