Over the past year, Montefiore Health System moved on a number of innovative programs. Among other things, it received approval from the United Network for Organ Sharing--UNOS--to launch a new lung transplant program. Safyer also oversaw Montefiore becoming the first system in New York to successfully use livers with hepatitis C in transplants while patients waited for a match.
