Rucker continues to push for greater interoperability across the industry. Speaking at this year's Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society's annual meeting, Rucker called on organizations to turn to open application programming interfaces--APIs--as a way to accelerate change. The ONC also has a heavy lift in implementing aspects of the 21st Century Cures Act that call for greater interoperability. Rucker is also charged with developing new standards around information blocking, slated to come out in September.
