Laura Kaiser took over as CEO at SSM Health in May 2017. Under her leadership the Catholic system expanded its footprint in Wisconsin. In January 2018, SSM joined Ascension, Intermountain Healthcare, Trinity Health and the Veterans Affairs Department in announcing the formation of their own drug company. The health system is also trying to address the nation's addiction problem by launching a service line dedicated to substance abuse disorders.
